Home for the Holidays/Howard County Floral and Interior Design

Right before Christmas Dellablooms collaborated with Debbie McHale of Interior Transformations in a new community, Patuxent Chase in Howard County.
A festive cube of roses, orchids, berries, and holdiay evergreens adorns the opulent table setting.
Gallery 44 provided some gorgeous artwork to showcase the table settings shown here.

Toll Brother's home builders does a fabulous job of not only building gorgeous homes but also helping residents feel at home in their new neighborhood.  One of the ways they accomplish this is by hosting a Holiday lunch in their model on a Saturday where all the current residents and the ones who've not moved in yet get together.  It was festive and fun and a great opportunity for residents to meet professionals who can make their house a home with interior design and flowers.  We enjoyed sharing ways to decorate for the Holidays with place settings along with flowers and linens to create everything from an opulent feel, a family gathering and even a kid's table.

What a team!

Above we are standing next to an everlasting piece by DellaBlooms for one of Debbie's client's home. They wanted a Holiday arrangement for a center table in their foyer. We staged the piece at the model home event right before delivery.  Adding dried hydrangeas along with berries, lilys and magnolia gives gorgeous dimension and life to the everlastings in this deep hued ceramic pot.

Residence enjoyed a wonderful catered lunch at this Holiday get-together.  Boxwood flanks Anthiriums, tulips and roses grace the table near the kitchen.

Overall this was such a fun day speaking to home owners about Interior Transformation's full-service interior design and DellaBlooms and Gifts floral and event design.

Thank you Toll Brother's for a fun afternoon in your beautiful model home in Patuxent Chase, Howard County.  Readers you must see the photos of these home or go see the model for yourself.

Soft Champagne in Howard County Wedding Flowers

Soft Champagne was the color scheme for a bride who knew exactly what she wanted in flowers and design for her wedding at this favorite spot in Howard County, The King's Contrivance Restaurant. Close to Rt. 29 is a beautiful inn where it seems time stands still. Heather and Erick's wedding was an intimate gathering of friends and family but elegant in the details.

Heather's bouquet was designed with lots of texture and soft hues.
The reception center pieces featured Amnesia and Sandstorm roses, artichokes, and hypericum berries, seeded eucalyptus and other lovely flowers in glass cubes lined with leaves.

The cake was topped with flowers of the day including scabiosa pods.  Soft, softness, softer....

Heather was a gorgeous DellaBlooms bride.
Erick was our tallest groom yet and we almost had to stand on tip-toes to pin his cymbidium orchid boutonierre on his lapel.
Best wishes to Heather and Erick for a life-long beautiful love.

Yummy details-Wedding Coordinator Glen Echo Park

Would your dentist host a candy buffet at their wedding reception? This fun dentist did just that. You see she knows how to plan for a little frivolity for her wedding guests. Sixty-five pounds of sugary, colorful, crunchy, chewy, mouth-watering candy.

Is your mouth watering yet? Call us and we'll help you plan a candy buffet for your wedding, Bat/Bar Mitzvah, or other celebration where you want your guests to feel a sweet welcome. (nom-nom-nom)

Details, details, details/Glen Echo Park Wedding Coordinator

Last weekend DellaBlooms worked with an amazing bride to execute an amazing wedding. Julie wanted lots of texture in the flowers, the fabrics, and vessels used in the designs. The venue was a public historic amusement park in Glen Echo, MD. Everything was brought to the site and care was taken to leave it in it's pristine state.

Lighted paper lanterns hovered over the dance floor while filmy teal fabric and lights covered the exposed cinder blocks below the stage where the DJ resided.

Even though the park services does not allow open flames we were able to import enough lighting to give the Bumper Car Pavillion a soft warm glow.

More scrumptious details to come......

Vintage Wedding

Recently I had the privilege of designing flowers for a vintage wedding for a bride whom I've known for several years.

When we met to talk about how she envisioned the day I was thrilled she wanted to do a vintage wedding with lots of soft muted colors, texture and elegance.

Blueberry Love

This weekend Birdman, Little Bird and I attended a party this weekend waaayyy out in the country. It was a gathering to say good-bye to a young lady who just graduated from college and is on her way to a remote East European country for a year. Lovettesville is the home of our friends and they LOVEETTE there. Their home is surrounded by 10 acres and if Lisa had her way all of it would be garden-scaped. Check out their beautiful hydrangeas

These beauties are all along the front porch and are just glorious with all their big colorful moppy heads with their dark green leaves as a background. The colors range from deep and pale blue and some are lacking sulpher and sport a loverly shade of clear pink. To read about soil conditions which determine the different colors, read this

Lisa shared and a big bouquet of these gorgeous mop heads came home with us.
The gorgeous shades of blue reminded of my "Blue Bride" whose celebrating an anniversary soon. What a fun blue Howard County wedding!

Mr. and Mrs. Lovettesville have planted a dozen or so blueberry bushes which are loaded with the lucious ripe berries and they're such generous folks we came home with a container of the yummies. I can't tell you how many times Birdman and I opened the container on the long drive home to grab a handful. Mmmm....

Yesterday I made Blueberry Chutney and Lemon Thyme Shortbread Cookies and served them with brie and white wine. The evening was cool and breezy, unlike most late June Maryland evenings. A neighbor came over to enjoy the wine with Birdman, myself and Little Bird. The wine and apps led to a flank on the grill and to tell you the truth we just didn't want the evening to end. If you want to make the chutney or shortbread I found the recipes here

Here's to old friends, family, blueberries, neighbors and hydrangea love on a cool summer evening.
