A Victorian fall wedding

Here's the wedding gown for this weekend's wedding gig. Beth The bride and groom wanted a Victorian feel to the flowers, and this is what I designed for them. Beautiful Casa Blanca lilies, hypericum beries, rannunculas, dusty miller, and black ostrich feathers.

Could this groom be any happier?   What a great smile.

And the hollywood glamourous bride. Check out those ruby red lips.

Here the gorgeous cake with Boccara roses and rannunculus, flanked by the toss bouquet.  My daughter helped deliver this wedding and she did a wonderful job flowering the cake.
The groom's boutonniere constructed of wine callas, berries, and dusty miller in a calla lilly bout holder.  These are magnetized and hold on tight to lapels right through the "I now pronounce you man and wife" kiss.

One of my favorite parts of this wedding was suggesting an "In Memorium" boutonniere for the bride's deceased father.  The bride set up a podium next to the head table with this beautiful family photo.  The boutonniere sat solemnly honoring her father throughout the reception.

Close-up of the Father of the Bride's bout.

Congratulations Josh and Cayla!  May God bless your marriage, family and home for many years.

Sports Writer Hall of Fame

A sweet couple came by our booth at the Howard County 50s Expo and ordered this arrangement for their neighbor who was being inducted into the sports writers hall of fame. He was expecting lots of out of town guests and what better way to celebrate an accomplishment than to send flowers.
When asked if I could personalize it in any way I jumped at the chance. This is one of http://www.dellabloomsandgifts.com/ specialities. We love to personalize our arrangements any way we can.
Of course we begin with color, and in this case the colors requested were "masculine." Hmmm..... in the fall this is easy to do with lovely Gerbera Daisies in orange, fluffy yellow spider mums, celosia, and an collection of daisy and button mums. The yellow spider mums are sometimes called "Football Mums" as they're used in corsages and arrangements for football season/homecoming, etc. For another masculine touch I added curly willow, some pods, and bear grass all in a coppery glazed ceramic pot lined in salal leaves.

I created lots of sports picks with footballs, baseballs, basketballs, soccer balls, and a few stars, since these are a few of the subjects Stan's covered over his 30 year career of writing for the Howard County Times.
If only I could have found lacrosse, which is a huge sport here in Maryland. I had to add some sharpened pencils as I'm sure in Stan's earlier days he's gone through many of these collecting statistics, bios, and team profiles before portable laptops were so available.
Congratulations Stan Ber for your many years of writing about local sports in Howard County. I'm glad DellaBlooms was chosen to help you celebrate your special day.
Here's a letter to the Sport's Editor from a local resident stating how Stan and his colleague have contributed to the community over the years. http://www.explorehoward.com/sports/66150/letter-sports-editor/

These arrangements were for a local church and their dedication service. Fall colors look nice against the light wood of the pulpit and rusty red carpet.

Curly willow, Belles of Ireland and Crocosmia give the piece nice vertical height.
